# Quick start

Source: https://helpcenterkit.com/docs/en/quick-start

HelpCenterKit gives you a public or private help center, an AI that answers from your articles, and an in-app widget. This page gets you from sign-up to a live portal.

## 1. Sign up

Go to the sign-in page and enter your work email. We send a six-digit code; there is no password to remember. The first time you sign in you name your company and your first knowledge base, pick a brand colour and the languages you publish in.

## 2. Add content

You have three options:

1. **Start with the sample structure**: three categories and a welcome article you can edit.
2. **Import** from Document360, Zendesk Guide, Confluence, Notion, GitBook or a ZIP of Markdown/HTML files. See [Importing content](/docs/en/importing-content).
3. **Write with AI**: open *AI studio*, describe the topic, and get a draft with headings and steps.

## 3. Publish

Open an article, press **Publish**. Published articles are live on your portal at `/kb/<your-kb>` straight away, are searchable, and the AI can use them in answers.

:::tip
Turn on approvals in *Portal settings → Publishing workflow* if you want a second person to check every article before it goes live.

## 4. Make it yours

In *Portal settings* upload your logo, set colours and fonts, add header links, and connect your own domain such as `help.example.com`.

## 5. Put help inside your product

Copy the widget snippet from *Portal settings → In-app help widget* into your app. Your users can search and ask the AI without leaving the page.
