Migrate from Document360

Updated 24 Oct 2026Download PDF

You can move a Document360 knowledge base in two ways: straight from Document360's API (recommended), or from an export ZIP. Both run in the background, so you can leave the page.

Before you start

  • Create the knowledge base in HelpCenterKit that should receive the articles (or use the one from sign-up).
  • In Document360, create an API token with read access (Settings → API tokens).
  • Decide whether imported articles should go live straight away or arrive as drafts for review.

Import with the API

  1. Open your knowledge base in HelpCenterKit and choose Import → Document360.
  2. Paste the API token. Optionally enter a language code (default en).
  3. Tick Publish imported articles right away if they should go live now; leave it off to review them first (drafts in Document360 stay drafts either way).
  4. Press Start import and wait for the report.

What comes across

From Document360 In HelpCenterKit
Categories and sub-categories of the main project version Nested categories, in the same order
Articles (Markdown or rich text) Articles in Markdown: headings, lists, tables, code blocks, callouts and links
Published / draft state Kept, when you choose to publish
Images on Document360's servers Copied into your media library, so they keep working after you close your Document360 account
Article description SEO description

The import report shows how many articles, categories, headings, tables, code blocks, callouts, images and links were converted, how many images were copied, and every warning (for example an image that couldn't be downloaded; it then stays at its old address, nothing is dropped silently).

What doesn't come across

  • Other project versions: import each version into its own knowledge base, or one at a time.
  • Other languages: one language per import. Each import creates its own articles.
  • Revision history, reader feedback, analytics, reader accounts and portal settings.

Old URLs

Download the old → new URL list (CSV) from the import report. It lists every imported article with its Document360 reference and its new address. If you keep your help-center domain and point it at HelpCenterKit, add the old paths under Snippets & glossary → Redirects so old links keep working.

Import from a ZIP instead

Export your project from Document360 as a ZIP, then choose Import → ZIP file. Folders become categories. Images included in the ZIP are uploaded to your media library.
